we began our trip mid june and made the trek to MO in two days. we did stay at the worlds' ghetto-est motel one night and learned our lesson for the drive back home. the children were great travelers, husband rocked the steering wheel, and i just tried not to barf. morning sickness was just beginning as we left for this trip. bad timing on getting knocked up, i know. i love driving through st. louis and seeing that arch; there's just something about it.
first thing i did when we pulled up to my parent's house, was tour their garden. it's their pride and joy and i'm always in awe. we had a couple days to relax before david's family arrived, so i painted my parent's dining room, went to the plant nursery with them, and hung out with our stewart cousins on the lake. when david's family did arrive, the reunion was just as amazing as expected. seeing his parents, sisters, brother in law, nieces, and nephews was pure bliss. it's been years since we've all been together. my parents took one for the team and moved in with my brother for the week so that we could sprawl all over their house. bless their hearts.
our pruett reunion mostly consisted of cousins running around, playing on the lake, junk food and movies, good food, a trip to the aquarium, and sheila fitting her whole body in the dryer. i was peeing my pants dying laughing as i watched her contort her body to achieve this.
during that week, cole and reade invited kavi to attend boy scout day camp with them. it was "bring a buddy" day and i knew kavi would have a ball. he came home so excited, tired, sweaty, and happy, which made me happy. apparently, he had the best aim of the group. go kavi boy!
overall, it was a great way to start off our vacation and we felt so blessed to be able to meet david's family half way between us and utah in MO. it really worked out well. i love his family and was so happy to see him in his element and our children build relationships with their cousins, aunts, and grandparents.
