date night

the night before mother's day,  a babysitter was hired, 

and adult conversation was had.

dinner at saparro's, a japanese steak house:

our grown up friends

sheryl, drunk on ginger sauce 

a little frozen yogo at myo.

sewing our seeds

a couple weeks ago, we kicked it into high gear over here.

sheryl and i went to home depot. we came back with these cut boards and our sweet husbands turned them into these garden beds:

and our seeds have since then turned into these:

the children loved planting each seed, and did so with such care:

the boy batman thought he was so cool and this activity proved to be some 

special daddy-son bonding.

we planted everything for salsa, salads, and more.

the boy cannot get enough of watering and checking his sprouts.

we are so excited to see what our hard labor produces!

a friend like her

before moving to monterey, david picked out our home.

he did a great job because we moved right nextdoor to my future best friend.

although david deserves some credit, i don't think this was coincidence.

sheryl is the kind of friend everyone needs.

she's laid back

she kind

she's willing to help

she eats junk food with me

then she makes me work it off by running with me

she watches my kids

she's spiritual

but most of all she's fun.

she's is down for anything at any time:

like

 an impromtu jumping in the ocean fully clothed in the middle of november:

going surfing in an even colder ocean during the end of november:

to the beach again in january,

thankfully no water this time:

sheryl really is a girl's best friend

and i'm so grateful for her!
