thrifty beach quilt

i'm finally back in the groove of things, and all i want to do is quilt!
i've collected a few vintage fabrics from thrift stores in the form of sheets or pillowcases.
some of them are so fun retro, i can't even stand it.
i thought these fabrics would be perfect for a throw quilt for the beach or the park.
ya know, something that can get dirty.
here's my start. we'll see what i can get done before this weekend...
my sisters and mom are coming to town for a girl's week!

my sister, the doctor of philosophy

at the end of this week, my sister will have her PhD.

what a woman she is.

if only my daughter(s) can grow up to be as strong, determined, smart, and loving as she is.
these only start the list of what's great about noel.

congrats to my seee-ster!

happy (belated) easter

our only easter decorations came in the form of food storage; which produced wheat grass.

beautiful wheatgrass i might add. so easy and the perfect filler for my antique McCoy pots.

i love these pots with a passion. my dad has given me each one and i will cherish them forever. aren't they the most charming pots you've ever seen?
speaking of love; how big are my lovies getting? we really enjoyed easter as a family this year.
along with the candy, silliness, and easter bunny, we focused on our Savior and the real meaning of easter for our family; HIS atonement. we feel so blessed to know of this, and i'm honored to be a mother who gets to teach these little ones of Christ's great sacrifice.
oh, and the easter bunny stopped by for me too. surprised with me with a REAL camera. this one to be exact. what a nice bunny, i think he even gave up on his flat screen tv for it.

sewing our seeds

a couple weeks ago, we kicked it into high gear over here.
sheryl and i went to home depot. we came back with these cut boards and our sweet husbands turned them into these garden beds:
and our seeds have since then turned into these:

the children loved planting each seed, and did so with such care:

the boy batman thought he was so cool and this activity proved to be some
special daddy-son bonding.

we planted everything for salsa, salads, and more.
the boy cannot get enough of watering and checking his sprouts.

we are so excited to see what our hard labor produces!
